I am trying to locate the emmisivity of manganese steel that is used as a wear surface on a drum. I do not find it listed in any of the published charts. Thanks. Mac2

initially you can use that of steel (or iron) with the appropriate level of oxidation and polish an estimate usually suffices.

mn and fe have similar emmissivities

I do not have the emissivity value for ASTM A 128, anyway considering it is an austenitic steel, I would follow hacksaw’s suggestion and take values common for austenitic steels, taking care to the finishing state of the surface (about 0.27 for polished surface up to 0.9 for oxidized surface).
