Howdy

In case any of you are wondering where some of the stranger EmotIcons are coming from, the answer is that they are being stolen – and you can steal some too. I use HotBar in Outlook Express. It contains literally thousands of EmotIcons and Animated Icons - here are a few of my favorites.

Where is this "Hotbar" in Outlook Express? I use Outlook Express 6.0, but I haven't seen this bar.

Sorry if I confused things. Hotbar is a free addin for IE and Outlook Express. In both of these, it adds a skinny toolbar. In Outlook Express you get a lot of functionality in that toolbar. It contains an icon for Backgrounds / eCards / Funny (pictures) / Animations / Text (short pre-written letters) / Biz Cards / Voice / and EmotIcons. I find the text messages useful at times and I am sure that the eCards have saved my marriage (Anniversaries).

In IE it is not all that useful. The toolbar adds links that are sometimes – sort of – related to where you are at on the web. When I am in Eng-Tools I get a bunch of links for Technology (Tooth Whitening) / Engineering (GradSchool.com) / Computers (some Auction) / Electronics (Sears) / Biotech (I don’t know) / and Space (Space Software). Most of the time I just ignore it. I would shut this off except that it does allow you to select a skin for IE – I have a pair of cat eyes staring at me.

I use Word to compose all of the messages that I send (for the spelling checker). I keep a document on my desktop for that purpose and store the complete [ img link ] ready for a fast cut and paste.

Like I said – there are literally thousands of EmotIcons and Animations in HotBar – but none of them are downloaded onto your system until you select or use one of them.
