I'm designing a pipe system in accordance with EN standards. The system consist of a P235GH (CS) line operating in ambient conditions down to (-27°C).
Using EN 1515-4 to select the bolting material on a P235GH (CS) line, I have run into a contradiction in the piping codes:
* EN 1515-4 Table 3 states GR8.8 bolts cannot be used lower than -10°C.
* EN ISO 898-1 refer to that all bolts conforming to the standard can be used down to -50°C, this includes GR8.8.
Can anyone clarify what is the norm in the EU regarding carbon steel bolts, in low ambient temperatures? Is Gr8.8 used or is 25CrMo4 opted for ?
