Dear all;

I found the following EN equivalent for the above materials:
AISI 4140 = DIN 1.7225
AISI type 304 = DIN 1.4301
Do I need to mention the EN standard complete with werkstoffnummern to order the material or it is enough to just mention the werkstoffnummern or DIN, ex.:
DIN 1.7225 instead of EN 10025, werkstoffnummern 1.7225 and
DIN 1.4301 instead of EN 10088, werkstoffnummern 1.4301.

Your prompt response is highly appreciated.

You are mixing up Din numbers and Werkstoff numbers (Material numbers) DIN 1.4301 is not correct.
DIN is a German standarisation organisation , like ASTM in the States.
Most DIN standards are now being replaced by EN (European )standards.

The correct way of ordering stainless steel plate 304 in accordance with European standard would be:
EN 10088-2 - 1.4301 followed by an indication how the surface preparation has to be and what type of certification is required.
