Hi All, I have a materials question with regards to the EN 13480 code. We can't get round bar in the diameter we require in P355 to make a tube with flanges on the end. The flanges have already been manufactured in P355. Is it permissible under the EN 13480 code to weld Stainless steel to Carbon steel? it'll either be 304/316 (1.4307 or 1.4401)?

Thanks for any help

From a code perspective: sure, why not? Provided you follow the applicable requirements of EN 13480-4, e.g. have a qualified WPS for welding P1 to P8.
Nevertheless, your question (or sultion) is rather strange. Why substitute to a completely different material (group)?

Your question makes no sense. Please let us know more.

Why do you need to weld SS to carbon steel flanges already produced and on hand? Are the flanges slip-on type or other? Is the original piping SS or CS?
