Just an FYI for those still using NX2 and aren't subscribed to SFBs:

SUBJECT: End of maintenance support for Unigraphics NX 2.0.x
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Affected Software: Unigraphics NX
Associated PR Number(s): n/a
Scope: Unigraphics NX 2.0.x
Revision: n/a
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The UGS maintenance policy for Unigraphics NX or NX releases is to provide
maintenance support for a particular release until six months after the next
major version is released.

By this policy, the end of maintenance support for Unigraphics NX 2.0.x
would have ended on March 10, 2005. However, maintenance support was
continued for an additional 12 months until, at last, NX 2.0.6 MP5 was
released in February 2006.

GTAC will continue to provide phone support for Unigraphics NX 2.0.x, but
critical problems reported will be fixed in NX 3.0.x, NX 4.0.x, or a
maintenance pack of these releases. Fixes for other problems reported
against Unigraphics NX 2.0.x will be considered for inclusion in NX 5.0.

Based on UGS policy, when would you expect UGS to drop support for NX3?

I honestly have no clue. I've only been receiving Software Field Bulletins starting this year, so I don't have much from the past to go off of.

I wouldn't be too worried about NX3 until NX5 is released, which isn't going to happen until early 2007.

Without making any sort of commitment, if one were to speculate as to when NX 3 might reach the same point that NX 2 did this past August 23, 2006 (the date of the field bulletin above), I would look to around December, 2007. But that's just pure conjecture on my part ;-)
