My company has been asked to add two nozzles to a compressed air tank for a customer. We have an R stamp and are trying to find the original engineering data. The tank was manufactured in 1964 by a company (Atlas Tank in Vicksburg, MS) no longer in business. The name plate info is partially legible. There is "R4148" listed, as well as "DOT CT1079", from a secondary plate affixed by a company (Tank Sales and Equipment, Inc) that did some hydro and UT tests in 1998. I can't locate this firm either. There is a U stamp dated 1964. The tank serial number is listed, although, as I said, the manufacturer is out of business. Can anyone suggest ideas about how to trace the paperwork on this tank? Thanks!

With the seaial number you may get lucky with the National Board if the vessel was registered with them.

Your client's insurance MAY have records on file, but I doubt it.

You could legitimately toss the ball back into your clinet's court and see what they come up with.
