Engineering Project Management Software and Tools.

Hi everyone.
I’m recently new to Engineering Project Management in the Automotive Engineering Industry and I’m looking for some advice and tips on the most appropriate software to use for managing a Project.
My workplace currently uses MS Project but I need something that I could use to capture more information on a day to day basis.
Possibly some software that would enable me to keep a daily journal and open points/ issue document, along with standard timing plan tools all in the same package. Basically I’d like to use a program to capture as much as possible all in the same place.
Is there anything like this available?
If not, could anyone advise me on another type of software from their own experience?
I’m struggling with being able to acquire advice to be honest.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If MS project isn't adequate for your requirements. Primavera P6 is the gold standard. However I suspect you haven't really thought through your requirements. Do you want a good Project Management tool , good scheduling scheduling software , or some sort of cost spreadheet updated daily or hourly ??? How much time daily do you want to spend on data entry??? What is the approx budget for your project??

Thanks for your input.
I’m after a good Project Management tool to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours a day working on.
I will be inputting data from Open issues as when when they arise and these will be separate to the timing plan I will produce, as this has to be kept separate for the customers viewing.
MS Project might be adequate for what I need but the problem is, no one at the company I work for has any knowledge of how to use it and it’s difficult for me to spend time investigating whilst at work.
It seems like Projects at my place of work have historically been ran on a wing and a prayer and I’m trying to bring a simplified yet logical and organised approach to the role.

Maybe something like Microsoft onenote could be used if you are simply after a way of electronically recording information. You can also easily share the information with others.

Create a new page for each day, use tags to create to do lists and tick them off as they are closed off. You can easily generate a list of tags, and create your own custom tags to suit your method of identifying open/closed/in progress. If you have a tablet you can also record handwritten notes and take pictures directly into any notes you might be taking.

might be a good solution for you. To me this is the kind of software that suits any team, especially if you struggle with time management or getting through daily responsibilities. It’s easy to get the exact data I need with a bunch of filters by product, users, time range, etc. Actually, cross-filtering is awesome here. It has intuitive interface which makes the tool very easy to operate. My team totally satisfied. If they keep being that good, I'm not looking for anything else soon

Aconex
They provide mobile and web-based collaboration technologies for project information and process management on a SaaS basis.
It's heavily used in many countries as the 'project management' tool for medium to large scale construction projects.

Procore
Pretty much same as Aconex

Monday.com
Man this keeps popping up on my newsfeed. Apparently it is task based project management tool with strong visuals to get things done

BIM
There are so many different types of this. It's probably best explained by Autodesk or in a more Building MEP environment.

Any recommendations for a tool for Small Engineering Company (Oil & Gas)? something which can store project budgets, integrate timesheets so dollars can be tracked and can be connected to accounting for invoices etc,.?
