If you tell us how it was used it would be easier to figure out what definition you are looking for. The Acronym finder web page gives the following results with the first one being the one that I think you are looking for:

Acronym Definition

UTS Ultimate Tensile Strength
UTS Unisys Transmittal System
UTS Universal Technical Systems, Incorporated
UTS Universal Time Standard
UTS Universal Timesharing System
UTS University of Technology, Sydney (Australia)
UTS University of Toronto Schools
UTS Up The Swanee (i.e. in trouble)
UTSA University of Texas at San Antonio
UTSI University of Tennessee Space Institute
UTSL Use The Source, Luke
UTS-M Universal Timesharing System for Mainframes
UTS-S Universal Timesharing System for Superminis
UTSWMC University of Texas South West Medical Center - Fort Worth

was the address I went to. Just type in UTS in the search to get the list above.

As far as I know, the most common use of the acronym is:
Ultimate Tensile Strength, pehaps better known now as just
Tensile Strenght.

In simplistic terms, if for instance a metal rod has an increasing force
applied causing it to stretch, (Tensional Force), when this force reaches its
maximum before the rod breaks, the UTS of the rod material is defined as
maximum force/original x-section of the rod.
