Hello,

I am new to this forum as a user but I have found it immensely helpful in solving my problems. I wanted to post a question that I did not find an answer yet.

When you create a part, there are several properties that can be assigned to it - dash number, revision number, etc.

If I am creating a part and I want to engrave, say, the revision and the dash number in it, how do I create an expression to link it?

I found this previous thread, which was helpful to link the part file name but not other part attributes.

Hello,

create an expression with:

ug_askAttrValue_("", "PART_ATTRIBUTE", "my_attr")

replace "my_attr" with your desired attr.

The attribute system was cleaned up around NX 8 or 9; it works closely with the expression system now. I don't recommend using the "ug_askAttrValue" because updates might be a bit unpredictable. Instead, when you create an expression, right click on the formula field and choose "edit..."; from here you can reference a part or object attribute.
