Entering New Dimensions on repeat jobs

Is there some way of changing dimensions on jobs easily on repeat orders? Our drawing office currently print off not-to-scale templates and add in the dimensions by hand. The result is alot of human error, an extensive manual filing system and duplication activities as a result.

The short term method of dimensioning by hand has left us with long term drawing office lead times.

The obvious answer is a database but the drawings take considerably longer to produce when entering the dimensions on screen. Also the shear amount of drawings that are filed will be difficult to enter into the database.

The software used is radan for sheetmetal.

Question. Are you using AutoCAD with some add on software called Radan? If you are using AutoCAD, there are a few ways to get that info into the drawing. A database, Excel, or text file are possible to pull info from. If your software is Radan only, I doubt too many of us would know what that is. DXF's can be altered at the file level, but that would take some study of the file and the output you would want.

I don't know it this is a valid option without knowing the specifics of the drawing, but...can you create a tabulated drawing with different dash numbers? All dimensions could be called out a letter and the dimensions defined in a table on the drawing or on a separate spreadsheet that is labeled as a second sheet.

To extend what billtati said, you could then OLE the spreadsheet onto the drawing.
