I am taking a Drafting with Autocad course and it includes structural, electrical, and civil drafting lessons. I am hoping to get an entry-level job after completing this course. This is my second Autocad course I've taken and is more involved than the first one.
My question is a what am I expected to know before attempting to get an entry-level drafting job. This would be my first drafting job but worked at a surveying firm that employed drafters and saw them work on plans and tried to learn how to draw plot plans but my boss was too busy to show me or just didn't care, even after I finished my first Autocad1 class. I hope someone here can give me an idea of how much skill is needed to get first drafting job. Thank you.

You may have better feedback by posting this in a different forum like "How to improve myself to get ahead in my work". Your coursework is a good start and I assume gives you the opportunity to create detail drawings. Talk with your classmates to see if any of them currently work and the types of work they have done. If you are still currently employed, take a look at the drawing formats and styles used there. Each company or even each engineer is likely to have their own preferred style to a drawing. You are "expected" to know the basics of creation and formatting. What will set you apart is your ability to interpret and adapt to various requirements and even personalities.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply PSE. I wasn't aware of the other forum but now that I have gone there that would have been the right place for my post.
