Hi,
Can anyone recommend equipment and/or methods for dimensional inspection of rubber boots and seals?
There tend to be three types of parts I need to check, usually EPDM: circular seals with square cross sections, fastener sleeves/boots (variations on cylindrical shapes), and dust seals/boots ( revolved cross sections with folds). Not surprisingly, the features I most often want to check are ID's and OD's. Sizes range from 10 mm to 100 mm.
I've been using an optical comparator for some features, to approving molds, but this is obviously not practical for receiving inspection. My inclination is to machine go/no-go gages for any features that need to be checked on a decent sample of incoming parts. Any thoughts?
Thanks...
Eric
