I have an equation for the ratio of belt tensions on a V belt at limiting value of dry friction. this is;

T1/T2 = e ^ u * theater/sin angle

would this angle be stated in radians or degrees?

Any help appreciated Im not an automotive engineer (im structural) and this is a theoretical questions ive been asked ands although ive said its not my field its bugging me. It cant be degrees as you wont get a solution but all the data is given in degrees. Should this be converted to radians or is the formula incorrect.

thanks again.

Any equation without units conversion knobs must be in a consistent unit set. So I'd expect radians.

It's e to the (mu*theta). Where e=2.718, mu = coeff. of friction and theta is the angle of wrap in radians (1/2 wrap = 3.14 radians)

cheers guys Ill pass the info on and sleep easy. thanks again.
