Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has an equation for Fox's depth influence factor that I can use in my program instead of manually looking up the chart. There is a previous thread that I referenced that was closed. Your input on this is much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi jdonville,

Thank you very much for the invaluable information with the link. I will look thru it to see if I can find the Fox equation or try a different approach from the link provided. I suppose if worse comes to worse, I can always manually look up the values and plot a few points to try to curve fit the depth influence factor.

Your information is much appreciated.

I think that Bowles book has available that equation in his book's CD.... but if you do a google search you will be able to find it.

The program was created on C++ or some similar old programming language. Our IT folks had that language available in their PCs so we could tabulate the values in EXCEL so we reproduced the graph.

Hi Okiryu,

Thank you very much for your input. I have a copy of Bowles book but no CD. I have not been able to find Fox equation from my google search yet. I will keep trying again. Thanks again.

Hi Okiryu,

Thank you very much for the valuable information. It is much appreciated.

Here's a copy of the Fox article. I believe I found this from a link a few years back on this site.
The formulas are not too difficult to deal with in Excel, I punched them in today and found agreement with the chart in the article.
