Respected Sirs,

I have search all the discussions, but unable to find the basic of foundation especially pad.

I want to learn the steel pad to be used for concrete foundation for Equipment such as vessel,
What standard to which i can see the pad distance between bolts?
I already have in hand the drawing of concrete foundation but dont know the pad dimension to use.

Your response is very helpful to me,

Thanks

John

Most of equipment are either directly set on concrete (w/wo raised pad), or skid. Is the latter you were asking?

The foundation is already there with Bolts..

our scope is to do the chipping of foundation, install pad, grouting and erection of equipment.

I just want to know, how to put the pad by following an international standard.
Where can i found the standard or rule of thumb stating the dimension of pad to use and the minimum distance of pad between bolts.

Because there was an argument with our client, that the pad that our foreman installed was a little far distance from bolt.

thanks for your help.

Check with equipment supplier and asking for manufacture's installation standards.

It sounds like you’re asking about a housekeeping pad. Let me look through my files.

The vendor drawing doesnt have the detail of pad to use.

This is the pad to install with the height level to the grout (drawing is 40mm grouting)

bridgebuster,

I think OP is asking how to align the grout leveling pad, but not sure though.

If this is a grouting pad, how the grout is to be done - one lift (usually), or multiple? Why it is to be placed in between bolts? I am puzzled.

retired13,

40 mm of grout is nothing; one lift. Maybe, by "distance between bolts he means edge distance from grout to anchor bolt? If so, I would use 8"; that's what we use in NY for girder pedestals.

bb,

I think you nailed it, which has never came to my mind. Let's see otherwise [glasses]

Thank you Sir/s for your response.

ACI 351.2 for static equipment foundation is the Standard.

but I still coudnt found the required dimension/quantity of Steel pad prior to erection of equipment.

nevertheless, ACI standard would help me through.

Attached is the foundation drawing for reference.

Thanks

newbeehere - I'm not aware of any code requirement for a plate on top of a pedestal.

You need to be more clear on "what is the exact purpose/function of the plate?" Is it a preparation for grout (doesn't looks like), or is it for equipment setting? What size is the pad, and diameter of the bolt circle? We need more information.
