Equipment on Property Line 1

Hello All,

I need help with code clarification

I am designing a 4-story building which will be built with shipping containers

South side of the property line sits on public greenbelt. Distance between South building wall and South property line is 1’-6”.
West wall is at the west property line. There is a 3’-0” alley between an existing and proposed building
North building wall sits on a private sidewalk beyond which client has a parking lot.

Our strategy is to use PTACs (Packaged Terminal Air-Conditioning Units) for cooling and heating and bring outside air thru Energy Recovery Units (ERUs) on roof.

The questions is ……….. is it allowed to install PTACs on above mentioned walls? Any code restrictions?

Someone else's tree can be trimmed at will if it overhangs into your property. While A/Cs aren't trees, unless you have negotiated an easement with the neighboring property, you could be sued:

Why is it that this project is not going to sit well with local ordinances of US cities, towns and counties.

In most jurisdictions, property lines on the ground extend vertically upwards.

Therefore if your equipment overhangs the property line then it is possible for the other owner to sue for removal of said overhang unless you have agreed it with them, in writing.

This is separate from any issue over access to said items for installation, repair or removal, not to mention any emission from said units (condensate drain, hot air, noise).
