Equipment to reach High Ceilings

Our swimming pool structure needs to be repainted. Problem is getting to the exposed metal roof beams and girders. The pool is 85 feet wide and the roof is about 30 to 35 feet high.

The cement deck around the pool has a rating of 100 PSF and a man lift large enough to reach everything weighs 28,000 lbs which is too heavy.

Search of the internet doesn't turn up special equipment for this situation. We would prefer not having to use scaffolding if there is an alternative.

Any hints or tips greatly appreciated.

Since I am in the scaffolding business - looks good to me.

BUT - a lot of the one man lifts can reach this height and only weigh in the 6-8,000 range. Can you drop it into the pool ?? - drained of course and will the pool support the weight?? Not sure they can reach out 45' and up 35'??

It may be possible to put a smaller lift in the pool after draining, I know it has a 6" bottom just need to look up live load limit.
Talking to the old timers around here I discovered that the original building overhead was painted before the pool was installed.

You might be able to span the pool with I-Beams or Trus Joists - esp if you could build a bearing in the middle. Install a floor of some sort - plywood or scaffold plank.

Then use a light weight rolling scaffold to reach the ceiling. We have done this a number of times.

Of course all of this would need to be designed.

If you want - I can put you in contact with one of our divisions that could handle such a job.

Still in very early planning. Scheduling is a big issue and naturally budget. Probably won't happen this year.
