Eroneous model reference in assembly 2

When my customer opens up an assembly drawing, he is missing a model. I open up the same assembly from a separate stand alone directory w/ no search paths and the assembly opens w/o any problems. I search in my directoy, and can not find the component that he was missing; ie., my assembly does not use it.

I recognize the part number and at one time, I did use it. Do I have an eroneous reference to this component? How do I check for and remove erroneous/out dated references? On my assembly, I checked the GLOBAL REFERENCE VIEWER (not sure what this is) and I could not find the erroneous model in the model tree.

Any suggestions?

Check that he drawing doesn't have the old model referenced in the File Properties>-Drawing Models. IF it is there, delete and do a back-up again.

I checked this. the 706-006 is not one of the models in the drawing. This is an installation drawing w/ no additional models listed under properties.

Do any of the drawing models have Copy Geoms in them?

There are config options that control how ProE behaves if the parts referenced by a copy geom are not present, eg, will it allow the model to regen or not.

Perhaps a difference between your setting's and your customer's is causing his machine to demand the parts referenced by the Copy Geoms.

Another thought (and I am not trying to be smart)....When you checked for external references with the GLOBAL REFERENCE VIEWER did you check for each of FEATURES, RELATIONS & COMPONENTS in the tab FILTER SETTING TAB?

Thanks for the replies,

I have re run the global reference viewer tree times one for regular references, one for relations and one for placement w/ all objects and all features and I can not find this 706-006 part.

We have been using the same config file as our customer; so... I have "regen read onl objects" set to NO; but I expect my customer to have the same setting and I do not know what it does.

I begining to think that i am chasing a ghost.

You could try examining the session info/message log to see what ProE is doing when it tries to retrieve/regen this model.

Force the whole assembly to regenerate (Model Check -Regnerate is probably the easiest way) then go to Info>Session Info>Message Log. You'll probably get a fairly big text file so the easiest way to examine it is to cut and paste it into a text program like notepad or MS word then use its Find function to search for your problem part name.

Get you're customer to send you his message log too and check it in the same way, should hopefully give you a pointer as to what's going on.
