I'm waiting to hear back from Amada California. But here are my alarms. Right now nobody knows what the root cause of this is. When the machine is idle I can clear the alarms, As soon the beam is turned on these alarms shoot up. No beam = No production. Does anybody know anything that could help?

This i just a wild guess but, could it have something to do with the ld-modules that produce the laser beam?

Checked our alarm list book, all it says is contact Amada. Quite helpful book.. lol

Ya, it should say, "log on to eng-tips". Whatever the case, please let us know the result. I admit, I don't know a darn thing about Amada fiber laser but, I would like to learn.

Amada sent a new motor over on Friday. The plan is to replace the OG one. This is their Gen II fiber laser. Only a handful in the field and the first one to fail. Duane Lepianka is set to do the replacement tomorrow. There are only 1,500 beam on hours. I'll pick his brain tomorrow and see what I can learn.

I am not sure if you have met Duane before. Back in the day he was the best of the best, probably still is. You are in good hands.

For those who may not know. This machine has linear motors on it. I think XY and Z. I would think it's the drive that sends power to the magnets. But I would like to know which axis and if it's a linear motor they sent or just the drive unit.

The Gen II Fiber laser engine from JDSU that Amada uses has 2 Fiber Laser Modules and a Combiner Module. This unit was what was in the crate. It requires a sterile environment to work on. Thus is why Amada issued the new unit. They are going to send the OG unit back to JDSU for testing. Here a few pictures of the unit being replaced right now. It took 4 people to move the OG unit out and the new one in.
