Error Opening an Assembly

NX 3.0.5.3

Trying to open an assembly model, I receive the following error : "Internal error: an attempt was made to access an attribute not in the relevant class"

I can open the top level drawing file (using the no components option). And, I can open all of the components themselves. Just not the assembly model.

Any clues as to what I can do to fix this ?

I suspect part corruption, I have seen this before, a few years ago, it tended to be part specific - you could try running a part clean up.

I would suggest speaking to GTAC, although they'll probably suggest checking this on NX4 or above (NX3 is no longer supported)

Best regards, NXC

Hello
This is my first post at this forum. Have been reading it a while and found some good tips.

Just wonder what do you mean with "running a part cleanup"

I use NX4 and also have an assembly that gives me problem.
I can open the part as normal. But, if I do an output cls file. It takes about 2 min before it finish. Same if I save the file.
And if I try to shut down NX. My computer stop responding.

File > Utilities > Part cleanup > Set all checks > all loaded parts

This is really an issue that you need to take up with Siemens support - There are a number of calls on the system that have been logged as PRs, these are still being investigated by Siemens, they're going to be in a better position to advise on this occasion.

All you'll need is your sold-to details, Siemens will do the rest.

I sent it into GTAC before I posted here.

Still waiting to hear back.

If you can load the assembly with no components or add it to another assembly without loading the components then you may be at least able to open the file sufficient to run a part clean up and re-save it. Sometimes when things are slightly wrong I have found that they can be recoverable by persisting in this manner.
