ERROR: TIME INCREMENT REQUIRED IS LESS THAN THE MINIMUM SPECIFIED

I am new at Abaqus and struggling with a convergence problem I guess. The
error says

***ERROR: TIME INCREMENT REQUIRED IS LESS THAN THE MINIMUM SPECIFIED

I know this is a common problem and tried to fix it with suggestions I found
online but I couldn't. To better understand what is wrong with my model I
reduced it to this very simple form:

-1 truss element (T2D2)
-Fixed at one end
-Load is applied on the other end to create tension.
-Elastic-perfectly plastic material model with
E=210GPa, v=0.3, Yield Stress=200MPa

That's all I have in the model now. When I do not exceed the elastic limits
the model works well but whenever I increase the amplitude of the load to
get a plastic response it aborts with the error. Can someone help me out of
it?

If you have a perfectly elastic-plastic material and you go beyond yield stress, and the material isn't constrained within elastic material, then the strains will go to infinity.
