ERROR: TOO MANY ATTEMPTS MADE FOR THIS INCREMENT

I am modelling composite columns having 4 shell elements and 1 solid element as concrete. I have given interaction as surface-to-surface general to the whole assembly. and while performing non-linear buckling analysis using implicit step im getting this error ...i am use smooth amplitude...i have incorporated imperfections also...

This error comes for various reasons. Here are some of the most often:
1) Failure has occurred in your model
2) There are overconstrained DOFs in your model which the equilibrium algorithm cannot handle successfully
3) Not sufficiently refined mesh, especially in contact regions
4) Incorrect boundary conditions (underconstrained model)
5) Low convergence tolerance

I guess you are using Abaqus. This error message is very generic and only indicates non-convergence but it may have many different reasons. Usually contact but if it's buckling then you may need a different approach. Make sure the mesh is fine enough and check the equilibrium path. There are some special-purpose techniques like Riks solver but I would start from basic checks and corrections.

Okay for now I kept the 20 mm mesh size should I decrease and check...I checked properties loading and boundary conditions and constraints also no issue in this...

suggest posting in the FE forum ... but you've got the major players already so maybe next time.

I suggest running a static analysis with your model, just to confirm the model doesn't have any problems.

I suggest running an example problem with your desired FEA solution.

Have you checked YT for help ?
