The above reference states that additional sprinklers are not required below belt conveyors up to 4ft wide, where the area below is void of storage.

In my situation I have two conveyors, each approximately 2'-9" in width running parallel with each other, with a 2'-9" gap between them.

Would I be correct in stating that because neither conveyor exceeds 4'-0 in width, no sprinklers are required beneath? Or would I have to look at their widths in aggregate because they are fairly close together (thus treating them like conduits or other 'tightly grouped' obstructions per in 14.2.11.3.4)?

Thanks in advance.

IMO, I would not put sprinklers below based on your criteria.

Thanks Travis. My first time using 2022 on a job, so all of these new ESFR rules are throwing me for a loop.

I know. It is getting a lot different. I had a large project recently and we had a bunch of conveyors. Luckily I was going through the 2022 edition and found that section. The AHJ allowed us to use the 2022, even though 2019 was in force at the time. It had quite a cost savings associated.
