dear gents

i have a question about ESP POWER CABLE

my question is ,why during RIH ( RUN IN hole ) cable PHASE TO PHASE measurements using fluke increase ,,while PHASE TO GROUND measurements using DC megger test decrease.

as an example PH-PH IS 3.1 ohm AT ZERO TUBING,,after 100 joints is 3.7 ohm for example.

thanks for help

In REDA ESP Catalogue it is mentioned:
The cable is compliant with industry standards: ANSI/ICEA S-93-639, IEC 60502-2
On IEC 60502-2 Table 15 – Electrical type test requirements for insulating compounds
it figures no indication for EPDM insulation but for EPR.
However for EPR insulation at 90oC has to be minimum 3.76 Mohm.km
As far as I know, for usual voltages, the EPDM material resistance is-at least-equal to of EPR, if not more.
So, I think, in your case it has to be 3.1 Mohm at least [in any case it cannot be 3.1 ohm].I don't know how fluke works but the megger result is seems to me-if it will be 3.7 Mohm indeed-o.k.
The insulation resistance depends on cable length and temperature. Less length more resistance, less temperature more resistance.
