Hello I am brand new to this forum so if this question has been answered elsewhere just point me in the right direction.
I currently have a procedure that is qualified with EM12K and want to know if I can now use an EM13K wire without requalifying. In detail I would like to go from an F7A4-EM12K-H8 to an F7A4-EM13K-H8. My interpretation is that I can because I am not changing the material group or classification. Working to AWS D1.1 code.

What welding standard are you working with. Different codes, different variables.

No, I just need to clean my glasses more frequently.

How's the world treating you lad?

Since you stated the WPS is qualified, I assume it was qualified in accordance with Clause 4, because it didn't meet the conditions of prequalification or notch toughness is a requirement for your application.

If the WPS is qualified in accordance with AWS D1.1:2010, clause 4, any change in the flux / electrode classification requires requalification. Please refer to Table 4.5, item 3. Look to Table 4.6 if notch toughness is a requirement.

Best regards - Al
