I am involved with a large Utility Scale PV system design which will include connecting an 100MW PV farm into the utility system.

I currently need to come up with an "Ballpark" equipment cost estimate for the equipment that will be required on the AC side of the inverter to connects the system onto the utility grid. Without looking too much into the potential AC design I was wondering if there was an estimated $/MW cost estimate that could be used to estiamte the cost of the AC equipment on a large scale PV system. This cost estimate would inlude all hardware necessary for construction of the system.

Has anyone seen a cost estimate figure or have experience with this?

Thanks for the help.

Try the report "Residential, Commercial, and Utility-Scale Photovoltaic (PV) System Prices in the United States: Current Drivers and Cost-Reduction Opportunities," from February 2012. It looks like it's less than 1% of the 3.80 - 4.40 $/Wdc cost for permitting and commissioning costs, and the report says they lumped substation costs into that category. You might be able to get a better number for substation estimate only if you contact the authors at NREL.

you should begin by talking to the power engineers at the utility company that you plan to connect with.
they will tell you what you must use.
sounds as though you are a bit out of your depth here my friend.

really a 100MW system?
