I wanted to add a 2018 update to this thread to add some additional information that I have seen on this subject relating to 'Rule of Thumb' cost estimates for Gas Compressors, both purchase pricing and total installed costs.
Siemens gave their take on pricing at 2018’s Gas & Electric Partnership with the following presentation. From what I am seeing, their numbers are reasonable as well as their assessment that the bigger the Gas Turbine Driven Centrifugal Compressor Set, the lower the $/HP is and the cheaper it is to install.

Total Installed Costs are all over the map with scope being the driving factor. As a loose estimate:
• If the compression equipment going to be a bare minimum site, nothing but the compressor set, some valves, and maybe a small shed, $1500 $/HP.
• If the compression equipment going to be a standard compressor site without building $1800 $/HP.
• If the equipment is going be a nice compressor station with buildings, noise attenuation, etc. $2,000/HP to $2,500/HP. Scope is everything.
Are you all seeing similar numbers?
