Hello,

I've come up with a couple of options for a roof based on diaphragm capacities for SDI deck (using 5/8" puddle weld & #10 sidelap fasteners) The table below indicates for each deck type & weld pattern, how many sidelaps fasteners I would use...

[tt]Deck Type 36/5 36/7
1.5B22 n/a 11
1.5B20 9 7
1.5B18 5 4[/tt]

Where I need help is with determing which is the most economical option. I.e., Is the additional cost of an 18ga deck offset by using fewer sidelaps such that the overall cost is less than using 22ga deck & lots of sidelaps?

As I have had little luck this morning finding info to answer this question, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to get together with a local fabricator and erector for pricing and the practicality of numerous sidelap fasteners.

If it is a large roof, you may want to consider using zones (areas) of various fastener patterns.

Don't forget to check diaphragm deflections.

Good Luck!
