ETABS Columns Design

Hi All,

I need some guidance in modelling eccentric column behavior in ETABS. The column reduces in size from one side only as it continues up. See attached sketch for reference.

You can assign a frame insertion point modification that will model this eccentric behavior.

Three options that come to mind are to modify insertion point as EZ said, model as shell element and explicitly offset the edges, or model concentrically and then do hand calculations for the eccentric effects.

Whatever you do, manual verification is highly recommended to make sure the feature is doing what you think it should. I'd make a model of only the column and test it out.
