ETABS question involving line springs and how they work in ETABS:

A line element, drawing along the X axis only. Y and Z coordinate values are 0. If you define a line spring in the X direction, with no point springs or point restraints, how is that line stable when subjected to loads in the X direction?

I tried to find this out myself, and the only conclusion I came to was that when you apply a line spring to a line element, it actually puts the springs on the end nodes of the line element and so that is why it is stable.
