ETAP vs. EasyPower

What are the pros and cons of ETAP vs. EasyPower as far as learning curve and functionality?
I am new to either one and have an opportunity to decide which one I want to learn/use. Does one do certain simulations the other don't? Is one easier to learn than the other? What about support and training?
Any input on such a wide question will be greatly appreciated.

I am biased as having used EasyPower for over 16 years and have found it very easy to use. Your best bet is to get trial versions of each software package and try them out. The other items to consider are:
1. Tech Support help - how response? With EasyPower, I have found their tech support to be tops. I usually get a reply back in a day or two tops. This includes adding new devices to the library.
2. Available modules - is there one standard package where you are paying for items not needed such as Harmonics? Are there modules that can be added in the future as your needs grow?
3. Number of buses available - is there a one size or can you start with a smaller (less expensive) package of say 100 buses and then be able to add bus counts later.
4. EasyPower has a scaled down version called OneLine Designer that allows someone in the field, like a data collector, to collect the data and build the one line model. Is this something of value?
5. Are you printing labels directly from the program? How well does that feature work? Limitations on it? I don't and use a printing service where I send a spreadsheet to.
 
I haven't used Easypower but a lot more people use ETAP and I found it pretty easy to use.
 
Just to add that in my region SKM is more prevalent and many specifications list SKM exclusively. If you plan on using the software for providing services to customers, they also might affect which software you need. I have heard positive things on all three and have positive experience with SKM and their support.

The software will be used at one facility so it won't be for consulting. I would also be able to get a tech support contract. Hopefully, this would eliminate issues with slow response times.

I guess would still have to ask how much it will be used at the one facility? I have seen places where they buy the software, spend the money and time to get a person trained on it and it is used to build the model and perform an analysis. The software is not used again but the maintenance contract is continuing to be paid. Also I seen where the person who knew the software left the company and took his knowledge with him.

Some realistic questions that you need to answer.
 
wbd,Thanks for the insight. However, we have some fixed skids for our power flow. However, about 50% is constantly being shuffled around based on various needs and equipment locations. We do at least one major reconfiguration once a year and many smaller reconfigs throughout the year.
