Dear friends and experts,

I have a small request, I'm looking for a best possible way to separate ethanol and water etoh/water, 75/25 by vol %.

this is a pilot facility, we don't want to spend too much energy( like distillation). the boiler we have is already exhausted,

So I'm investigating about other sources like pervaporation and packed column ( zeolite packings not regular ones).

and the thing is I'm not looking for high purity of ethanol after the separation, not at this point.

what do you guys think, suggest me any better soln

the specs, im looking for 1.5 gpm solution.

without exact puritiest, we can not help. Distillation would require about 500 lbs/hr of steam.

Hello Dcasto, thnx for replying. for our application lets say 90 % pure.

a 10" packed column with a feed pre-heater to 190 F. Top temp 178, bottom 219 with an atmospheric pressure top. Heat duty 530,000 BTU/hr top condensor 540,000 BTU/hr, 10 theoretical trays, feed preheater duty 70,000 BTU/hr.

Mole sieves would be 40,000 lb's of sieve in two 2' by 50' beds with an average 2,800,000 BTU/hr for 11 hours per day regenerating with Nitrogen.
