Eurocode Deflection Limits: Best Practices

Hello everyone,

I’m reviewing deflection criteria for a long-span steel beam designed to Eurocode standards, and I’m seeking some clarification. I’m currently limiting deflections as follows:

• Imposed load deflection: span/360
• Total load deflection: span/250

My question is:

• For dead load deflection, what limit would you typically consider? I’ve noticed Eurocode doesn’t seem to provide specific guidance on this, so I’d appreciate any advice on common practice or limits you use in similar scenarios.

Also, for the total load deflection limit of span/250, should this be applied to all loads (permanent + variable), or should it be based on my quasi-permanent loads and reduced factored imposed load depending on building category?
