European Equivalent to AISI 1518 2

I am looking for details on mechanical properties or a direct european equivalent to 1518 carbon manganese steel
The application is a large angle valve disc (12"), which is to be threaded and welded to the valve stem and have a stellite 6 weld overlay on the disc seating area.

The best I can find is St52, but I'm not sure the properties are similar enough. A BS or EN standard material would be ideal.

Anyone got any ideas?

You need something like S235JR according to EN 10025 Hot rolled unalloyed structural steels.

There are some subtypes that may be better (e.g. S235JRG2), but you will need to review your application and its requirements and perhaps discuss with your material supplier.

I believe that 1518 has about 1.5% Mn which gives it good strength with lowish carbon content and remains readily weldable.
I think the S275JR has a lower Mn content and is not as strong - but can't find much on the mechanical properties of 1518 to check.
I was also thinking it would be a bar stock material.
What do you think?

St 52-3 is the old German (DIN) designation for a 1518-like grade. The new Euronorm (DIN EN) designation would be S355J2G3 (1.0570) according to DIN EN 10025 for hot-rolled rod or S355J2G3C (1.0569) according to DIN EN 10277-2 for cold-drawn bar. ASTM and SAE standards for rod and bar do not specify mechanical properties, only chemical composition, so the only way you will get this type of data is to get it from your current supplier or test it yourself.
 
1518 according to ASTM A 29 Standard Specification for Steel Bars, Carbon and Alloy, Hot-Wrought, General Requirements for has a manganese concentration range of 1.10 – 1.40 % by mass.

EN 10025 Hot rolled unalloyed structural steels covers both sheet and long products. S235JR allows 1.40 % by mass maximum for manganese concentration. Even the steels listed by TVP have only maximum manganese concentrations listed.

The steels that TVP and I listed are starting points for you to consider. They should be able to be used as substitutes for 1518. Work with a knowledgeable steel supplier to make a final selection that can meet your requirements.

TVP: You cleared up an important point for me - now I know why I couldn't find any mechanical properties in the ASTM standards.

Cory: I hadn't picked up that EN 10025 allowed for such a high Mn content.

I'm a bit stuck as I know what material the valve manufacturer uses,: 1518 but I don't know what properties to expect.
I have since found a steel under the old BS970,150M19, that has a good compositional match to 1518 and appears to have reasonable good yield and UTS. I now need to look it up in latest standards.
