Evacuating Refrigerant from a Chiller

I have some maintenance work that will have to require the chilled water to be drained out of a centrifugal chiller's evaporator. The chiller will not be in service during this maintenance work. I wouldn't think I would need to do anything with the refrigerant while the chiller is out of service. Would I need to evacuate the refrigerant since I am draining the evaporator? Yes or no?

No, just make sure that it is locked out so that it can't be started.

No, you can just leave the refrigerant on the chiller. Just make sure that you slowly fill the chiller with new water so that it will not cause sudden refrigerant expansion.
