I'm trying to set up the new drawing templates where I work, in SW 2007 SP 4.0. I'm running into 2 problems.

I can't link an excel BOM to a blank view.

When I insert the BOM the font in the cells is Century Gothic size 12. The excel BOM and table and the annotation font for the sheet are both set to Arial, size 8.

What option am I missing?

You're missing the fact that Excel BOMs are not actively supported. Is there a particular reason you are attached to the old style BOM?

I'm pretty sure Excel BOMs retain the font from their Excel templates and don't take on font from drawing properties.

If you use a new table-style BOM, its font is controlled by the drawing document options.

"I can't link an excel BOM to a blank view."

Neither can anybody else! A BOM (Excel or SW style) cannot be linked to an empty view.

Well, that solves the blank view BOM problem.

TheTick, I made a new BOM with the fields we want and when I saved the excel file I saved it as Arial size 6. I may just go to the Solidworks BOM, since that appears to update fine.

Is it possible to rotate a table? I'm trying to get a revision block (excel or SW) to go to 90 deg.

I found my mistake. There is the check box for "Use the document note font when creating the table". Once I unchecked that everything worked as set up.
