Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my model in ABAQUS explicit and I was wondering if someone here might be able to help.
The model in question is a total ankle implant and essentially consists of two titanium components in contact with a liner that is between them. The liner (UHMWPE) has viscoelastic properties, which I have defined in ABAQUS using Prony Series. The step is defined as *VISCO and I have two load cases defined. One component is a shear traction using a defined amplitude function moving posteriorly to anteriorly on the upper component and the second loading condition is an axial pressure load using a defined amplitude function applied to the upper component.
So far, I have not been able to get the model to run correctly. It gives me excessive displacement errors and quits unless I define an excessively high damping factor in my step (~5). When I do this, the results are not conducive with what I would expect to see.
Could someone please give me an idea of how I can fix this problem? I would appreciate it very much!
Thank you and regards,
Bradley Elliott
