Excluding items from BOM in PDMWorks

Many of our users are currently using the "Exclude from BOM" function to put placeholder parts in their assemblies without having them show up in the BOM. The problem is, our document control department generates their BOM output from PDMWorks using the "Reporting" function. PDMWorks does not check to see if an item has been marked as "Excluded from BOM" in SolidWorks, so the placeholder parts show up in the BOM. Can PDMWorks be set up to recognize which parts should (and should not) appear in the BOM, without removing the components from the assembly or suppressing them?
