NCESS should review to give exemptions to those engineers with 20 years experience .

It is very hard for those engineers graduated 20 years back to remember the undergraduate subjects.

Why? No one ever said getting a license was going to be easy, nor should it be.

What was your reasoning behind not taking it right out of school 20 years ago? I don't believe it expires...?

moddot;
This matter is for the PE licensing boards to deal with not NCEES. Some grant waivers, others do not.

Some states allow engineers with bachelor's degrees from ABET-accredited universities and 15+ years work experience to take the PE exam without taking the requisite FE exam.

I had an undergraduate degree from India in 1985 and came into the country in 1998.Struggled hard here before I got a master's Degree.That's the reason I did not take my FE for 20 years.

Best thing to do is to make a formal application (not just a phone call) to your state board and see what their response is. If they reject your application, you can usually apprear before the board at one of their monthly meetings and try to make your case personally. Sometimes the boards are more flexible than they might appear at first.

Some states grant exemptions. Look up the requirements for the state where you live.

I live in Alabama.Can anyone provide a list of States granting exemptions and Thanks for the responses and I really appreciate.

As I understood the rules, Wisconsin allowed and exemption for the FE.

Maryland allows an exemption from the FE with 12 totals years experience (4 years for schooling, 8 in industry).
