Can anyone tell me whether we can exhaust janitor's closet in the same exhaust as washrooms and showers. Does ONtario Building Code allow this?

Thanks

You can in the US and it's often done. Codes usually define the fact that you have to exhaust and not recirculate, but don't generally define what air streams can and can't be mixed. Good engineering practice, however, usually combines likes (toilets, janitors closets, showers, changing rooms, etc.) and separates them from the different ones. Note that kitchen exhaust is a different story - it's got its own rules...

But the code dictates that exhaust from laundary rooms be seperate. That is why my concern was janitor's closet. I got the answer. OBC does not say anything about Janitor's closet - therefore I guess I can put them in the same group as washrooms and showers.

Thanks for the repsonse.

I think that laundry (sp?) rooms in a commercial sense are laundromats, cleaners or even an apartment general laundry. These applications may have chemicals or particles (lint, etc.) that shouldn't be combined with a possible moist air stream from a shower (with respect to lint) or shouldn't be connected to a room that is occupied in case the fan goes out (with respect to chemicals).

I know you are on the right track here, but thought that maybe a little extra would help others.
