I am working on a project to install a vehicle exhaust removal duct system in car repair shop. if possible i have a question, how much exhaust fume does a vehicle produce while the engine is running in CFM eg. pickup F150.

well if its a 6 litre engine running at say idle , approx 1000rpm , I would think that there would be close to 6000 litres of exhaust every minute. If its a 3.9 litre engine running at say 2000 rpm , I would expect 5800 litres per minute. The conversion from litres to cu feet should be self evident for any engineer.

Half that for a 4-stroke engine. There will be contraction of volume as the exhaust cools. Exhaust will expand in volume as the exhaust pressure reduces leaving the cylinder.

miningman is assuming (a) full throttle operation (b) two stroke (c) room temperature exhaust

(a) and (c) more or less make up for (b) I suspect.

Also be aware that if you use a non contacting funnel as a connector there will also be entrained air.

Cheers
