Hey everyone,

Does anyone have typical exhaust gas temperatures right at the exhaust manifold and mass flow rates for a V-6 engine? Actually any size engine would do, I am just looking for a ball park.

I used the following parameters

Comp ratio - 10
Intake Pressure - 100 kPa
qin - 2000 kJ/kg fuel
Intake Temp - 300 K

came up with...

Exhaust Temp - 985 K
IMEP - 1150 K

I just need mass flow rate, but just wanted to check on exhaust temp as well

By the way...just a simple little tool I came across to calculate these values, follow this link.

thanks in advance

The mass flow rate of exhaust will be identical to mass flow rate of intake air plus fuel ... and that will depend on engine displacement, RPM, volumetric efficiency (estimate it if you don't know it), and ambient temperature and pressure ...

An assumed Tmax of 950 degC would be about right for a high performance OEM engine.

mattsooty[/nb], your assumed exhaust Tmax for a "high performance OEM engine" is probably not out of line, but perhaps it's not "typical".

Hello everybody:

mjpetrag, you can find a very good information reading the thread71-104735. Good luck!
