Is anyone else having problems with explode lines not appearing on drawings? I am using 2004 2.1 and when I create a drawing and then go back to the model and add explode lines, those explode lines don't appear on the model. It seems that they do appear if the explode lines are added first, and then the drawing is created, but any lines that are added after the drawing is created don't appear on the drawing. Is there a setting somehwere that both me and my var are not aware of? It seems to be a bug, but just checking to see if any has noticed this or has a status on it.

That problem occured in SP0.0 but was later fixed in SP1.0 I believe.

I just tried this in SP3.0 and it works fine. I made the explode lines in the assembly and they show up in the drawing.

The only thing that I can think of that would cause this, could possibly be View\Sketches but that doesn't turn them off for me. It might be a video issue.

Just a thought.

My VAR responded with the following SPR's out on Explode Lines. SPR 198202 - 'Exploded lines are missing in shaded and draft quality HLR/HLV views in this drawing.' It seems the explode line display in a draft quality or shaded drawing view is inhibited by the existence of an empty part. My workaround is to create some small geometry on the empty parts and make the geometry transparent, then the explode lines appear on the drawing.
Here is the second issue and its work around....The next issue is that once you see them, you will discover they are wrong. The relations in the explode sketch are having a negative effect on their display. This issue has been identified as SPR 123212 'Explode lines (sketch) terminating on circular faces can cause hidden edges to be shown in HLR and can hinder display of explode lines.' Edit the explode line sketch and delete all relations as a work-around to correct the display."

Even though that this is an open SPR - I have no problem with my Assembly in Shaded view. The Explode lines show up fine. I changed my view to draft quality saved and re-opened it. Picked HLV and HLR, no problem the view will shows the explode lines fine. I'll send you my screen shots of what I'm seeing.

I don't think I'm seeing that second issue either. The screen shots I sent you, show that I'm picking the circular areas and the explode lines show up fine.

Well then... maybe thats fuel for the fire to have IT upgrade.

Scott,

The screen shots of the assembly you sent me... did that assembly have any empty parts in it? The empty parts are what's causing the explode lines not to appear on a drawing.
