Hi everyone,

I am looking for a method to export the deformed shape into a CAD program. I found a post earlier which provided a method, but unfortunately it doesn't work for beam element.
"No facet data found. STL Export failed"

Here is the advised for the earlier post.
"I believe that now there is a much simpler way. While viewing the results go to Plug-Ins>Tools>STL Export.
I hope this helps.
Rob"

Thanks

You can’t export deformed beam elements to STL file because STL’s use triangular surface mesh.

Thanks for this information FEAway. I understand it now.
Is there any work around....
I can collect the deformed node values from abaqus and then import them into solidworks. I will update you on it.
Thanks and sincerely,

As you say, a workaround is to export deformed nodal coordinates (COORD variable) and then connect these points in some software.
