Export Data From TCE To Native?

This may be a bit backwards, but it sure would help out a customer. I am currently using NX4 (Please do not diss me for being on such an outdated version, it is in the hands of the company I work for.) and would like to export some line and text data that could then be imported into UG Native. The text still needs to be able to be edited. I tried exporting a .dwg and a .dxf file, but could not see them when I imported them onto the face of my native drawing.

In addition to the above can a parametric model in TCE be exported in such a way so it can be imported back in UG Native?

I just cannot seem to figure this out if it is even possible to begin with.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The answer depends on your TeamCenter setup. It may be configured in such a way so that you cannot export files to native. If you are allowed to you will find the option on the 'File' menu in NX. There will be an option called 'Export Assembly outside Teamcenter...' From here the process is very much like cloning an assembly.

If you are going to export parts out for someone to work on with the intent of bringing them back in to Teamcenter when they are done, you should explicitly check out those parts before exporting them. Keep them checked out while they are being worked on and import the changed files before you check them back in.

I must have that option blocked since it does not appear in my File / Export / Menu. Thanks for trying to help me on this Cowski.

The reason I was trying to make .prt files for someone to use was so they could have access to some library type parts (I.E.: Drawing borders, screws, etc...). On the solid models I had been exporting parasolids, but that does not work with line and text data obviously.

I would ask the Teamcenter administrator if s/he can export out the files you need. If you have a good reason (and I think you do) and it is not against some sort of company policy/regulation, someone should be able to export out the files you need.

There is another way of "Exporting" NX data from Teamcenter to "Native" - you <right click> on the NX dataset in Teamcenter, then select "Named References...". Once in the Named References window you can select where you want the NX dataset to be exported.

Mind you - this option may also be turned off by your Teamcenter Admin - but it is worth a look.

The import/export tools moved menus in NX5 I believe. It should be under "Tools->NX Manager->Export Assembly" for NX4 with TcEng

Thanks for the many options to export from TCE, but each one of those is not available to me.
