I'd like to export a UG assembly to either IGES or STEP and have the outcome be individual IGES or STEP files of each part in the assembly. Possible?

Thanks...

Yes

You ned to do the export from the external tool or use the file on disk. You cannot do it with the active model.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

Ben,

Please explain furthur. I'm not a UG driver. Former Pro/E driver trying to get stuff into Catia.

External tool? I'm using iMan as well and thought I could do it there but Java problems are preventing this.

Thanks...

UG has an extaernal application for export/import translators. On windows, Start, UG version, Translators, which translator. Then you can select 1 or many files to translate.

I´m not sitting on a UG station right now but I think it can be done from UG if you use export to step 214 (exports assembly structure and parts)

If you do it from within UG, you MUST select the file to be exported from disk, not the current work part in session. If you use the part in session, the output will be a flattened structure. This is documented.

You can export step files with assembly structure in NX not sure about releases after that.
You have to make sure that all components are fully loaded.
When you export the step (in UG) and go to class selection you make sure you just hit ok (don't select anything). This then selects all the components with solid bodies.
