Exporting Alibre file for SW will it work in SW?

In my small engineering services busines I have a lot of companies in the area that use SolidWorks. I would like to get work from them and do it in Alibre then save it in SolidWorks format. Will it work? Will they be able to open it as a native SW file? What can I do to make this happen?

You can save as a solidworks file SLDPRT or SLDASM. I do not know which version they go up to, but I have a guy in India who has no problem receiving my files.
Take your file and export it. Alibre will then get you to save it to a file. At the bottom of the file a dropdown menu will ask you what format you want to save it in, scroll down the list to find the format you want, highlight and save. Not all versions of Alibre will import or export files But the professional and expert versions will. Check with their support to make sure

On another subject, I see that by your name and that you are doing business in India, I'm assuming that you are in England? I was wondering if you get work easily there or is SolidWorks the biggest presence in that area, also? Or are you using oDesk or some other international agency?

Another question: When you are exporting files to another company do you need to have the Expert version or can the Pro version do it? What about the lower level PE version?

Actually I am, originally, from England. However for the past 42 years I have worked in the USA., My handle "Berkshire" was taken from the Berkshire valley in New Jersey where I used to work many years ago. I am exporting and Importing Solidworks, files with the Pro version. I do not think the lower level personal edition can do it. Your best bet is to talk to a salesman at 3D systems and see what they can do for you. I first started Using Alibre for much the same reasons as you are now. I worked for a company using solidworks, then when I left there, I did not want to pay over $5000 for a licence.
