In our business we need to get 3D rendered images out of SE with a transparent background so they are easy to use in marketing material to show the product. At the moment the best we can do is a JPG with a white background.

Is it possible to export a rendered image out of SE as a PNG with a transparent background or is there any other way of achieving this?

Hi

I don't know a direct way by using SE.

You can replace the "white background" by "transarency"
in differents software as : Gimp, Inkscape ...

I do this a lot.

If marketing just needs small pictures, the best is to set your background to solid white and just use a tool like Screen Hunter to grab what you want (Free: )

If they need high rez, then save your image as a .bmp. JPG is a lossy format so it may change some colors around on you. BMP keeps white white. You do want to watch out for ground shadows if you want to make the background transparent later.

For both cases, a program like Paint.Net is good for editing as well as making parts transparent (Free: ) Even if you have a shadow, you can still get Paint.NET to cut it out. Also, if you just used Screenhunter, you can just paste into Paint.net so the process is really quick.

From Paint, you can then save any type of file you like, control JPG quality, etc.
