Exporting sketches to DXF or DWG in NX

Found an answer to an old closed thread -the solution is very simple but not captured there

The unwanted behavior was that when exporting sketches to DXF or DWG it resulted in an empty file unless they projected the lines out. What's going on is that NX doesn't apply a selection filter for object types that are compatible with DXF when you're in the "select objects" mode of the DXF/DWG exporter. Sketches are apparently not compatible, you have to grab curves. If you toggle the selection filter to Curves so that you're grabbing the curves of the sketch and not the sketch object itself then it works as expected. no need to create a projection or do extra drafting work.

This question is probably a "between the chairs" case,
A sketch is a feature, that apart from constraints and constraining dimensions and a whole lot of math, also contains curves.
-To us users, it's the curves we consider being a sketch, not that other stuff.
When exporting it is natural for the user to select the feature and thereby imagine we would export the curves of the sketch...
But obviously nobody at NX translator development thought of that usage. to them , a sketch is a parametric definition of blabla...

If you have the time and power, submit an Enhancement Request to be able to use sketch selection for export.

Regards,
Tomas
